Theresa J. "Terri" Macellaro, Esq. serves The Bernheim Foundation in a volunteer capacity as a member of the Board of Directors. Terri is a Los Angeles attorney, and is the founder and CEO of the nonprofit animal welfare organization, Animals Anonymous. She received her B.A. degree from Smith College and her J.D. from New York University School of Law. She began her law practice in New York at the famed New York law firm, Cravath, Swaine & Moore, and later became a partner at the Los Angeles law firm of Christensen, Miller, Fink, Jacobs, Glaser, Weil & Shapiro, L.L.P. She has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Public Counsel, one of California's leading public interest law firms. Her clients have ranged from motion picture studios and celebrities to Fortune 500 companies and municipalities.

Terri is well known as one of Los Angeles' leading animal welfare advocates. In addition to serving as CEO of Animals Anonymous, the nonprofit animal welfare organization she founded, she is also a member of the Advisory Board to Western University's School of Veterinary Medicine, and is Vice President, treasurer and member of the Board of Directors of In Defense of Animals, one of the nation's leading nonprofit animal welfare organizations. She has also served as the chairperson of the American Bar Association's Animal Protection Committee and as the editor of the American Bar Association's publication, The Animal Law Report. She has also served as a member of the Advisory Committee to the Los Angeles Zoo, and as a member of the committee appointed by the Mayor of the City of Los Angeles to conduct a national search for the most qualified candidate to serve as the city's chief of Animal Services.
